I want to take this opportunity today to share the words of King Jesus, and the freedom that is found in who He is. In John 8, Jesus tells the Jews who are listening to Him and believing in Him that all of them who listen to Him will know the truth, and be set free by it. However, they then asked how they could possibly be free if they are not enslaved.

Jesus responded with this, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed,” in John 8:34-36.

What a wonderful truth that is! Without Christ, you are in sin, and that means you are a slave to sin. You sin but your sin owns you and leads you further into sin. Jesus offers a better way. Jesus says that if you abide in His truth, if you become His disciple and abide in His word, you will be set free. Jesus says in the same book that He is “the way, the truth, and the life,” (John 14:6). So it is Jesus who sets you free. And in His words, “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

He has the authority to set you free and if you become His disciples, He does set you free, and you are free indeed. You are free from your sin and free to choose life and not sin.

Walk in the freedom that Christ Jesus has given you.
Grace and peace
